Head of Development

The Head of Development will lead the product development team to develop new market ready products for current as well as new customers.  Using hands-on leadership skills as well as industry knowledge and expertise to drive the launch of successful new products into the marketplace.

Inspired by new food and consumer trends they will work hard to drive commercial growth whilst developing new ranges, satisfying customers’ needs and expectations. They will take ownership of development from concept through to launch, working across departments to communicate stages of projects and ensure efficient product launches. Furthermore, they will have the vision to implement lean management and cost saving systems into existing process flows, by justifying the purchase of automated solutions. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Developing new viable market ready products in line with current market trends.
  • Ensuring all developments satisfy price, quality, technical and operational parameters.
  • Presenting and demonstrating new products to existing and new customers.
  • Managing the critical path of projects.
  • Project evaluation and feasibility.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to keep them up to date with the progress of projects.
  • Liaising with internal and external customers & suppliers as and when required.
  • Running factory trials of new products and ensuring all relevant paperwork is completed.
  • Organisation and menu writing for customer visits and events.
  • Maintaining all relevant paperwork.
  • Contributing to the overall commercial strategy and growth of the business.
  • Any ad hoc duties required to ensure the NPD kitchen runs effectively.
  • Management of staff.

The post holder must be a passionate and dynamic foodie with an exceptional understanding of food trends and ingredients. Be willing to travel both domestically and internationally presenting to customers both within their own business and at exhibitions.

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in product development or in a similar position, be a creative and innovative thinker who has a sound understanding of consumer trends.  The must also be computer literate and have excellent communication and presentation skills.

Hours of work are Monday-Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm.
