Cost Accountant

The Cost Accountant will play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller in analysing and reporting actual manufacturing costs against standard costs, and collaboratively working with stakeholders to improve business performance to maximise profit.  The primary responsibility of the role is to maintain and update the company’s database of product costings and the processes that feed into it, ensuring that accurate and timely product cost information is always available for analysis and key business and commercial decision making. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Continually review and keep product pricing schedules up to date.
  • Close collaboration with Commercial/NPD, performing financial modelling scenarios.
  • Create product pricing schedules for new products.
  • Ensure accuracy of master data for all product parts.
  • Review and challenge assumptions for the Bill of Material (BOM) for all products.
  • Regular updates of standard costs.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on variances in actual costs against standard costs.
  • Continually review and improve all product costing and reporting processes.
  • Holiday cover for the Systems and Management Accountant.
  • Completing ad hoc duties for the Financial Controller and Finance Director. 

We are looking for someone who is driven, enthusiastic and keen to learn about the business and its high quality range of chilled and frozen ‘value added’ seafood products.  The Cost Accountant will need to work closely with all areas of the business, including Production, Procurement, Commercial & Senior Management. 

Candidates must have direct experience within a manufacturing organisation, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be proficient in data collation, management, analysis and reporting. 

The role can be located at either of our sites and there is also the opportunity for some home working.
